J's Living House:  Refund Policies

​1. Terms of Service (TOS) and Service Agreement

By engaging J's Living House, the Client agrees to the following terms, which govern the provision of our advisory, logistics, and installation coordination services.

 

1.1 Our Role as Advisory and Facilitation Service

J's Living House operates as a Service Provider and Third-Party Logistics Coordinator. We are paid a handling fee for our expertise, advice, quality control vetting, logistics management, and installation coordination.

  • We Are NOT the Seller: J's Living House is not the seller, manufacturer, or importer of the physical furniture product. The sales contract for the furniture (product) is entered into directly between the Client (Buyer) and the Taobao Vendor (Seller).

  • Goods Ownership: All furniture purchased remains the property of the Client once the purchase is confirmed with the Taobao Vendor, even while in transit or storage facilitated by J's Living House.

 

1.2 The Scope of Our Handling Fee

The handling fee covers the following core services:

  1. Advisory & Vetting: Expert advice on product selection, sizing suitability for HK spaces, and due diligence checks on Taobao vendor reputation and product quality reviews.

  2. Logistics Coordination: Management of freight forwarding, customs documentation, warehouse consolidation (in Mainland China or HK), local HK delivery scheduling, and final-mile transportation.

  3. Installation Coordination: Arranging for and overseeing the professional, third-party installation of the furniture at the Client's specified HK address.

 

2. Product and Service Liability Policy

This section defines liability limits and responsibilities, adhering to principles of the Trade Descriptions Ordinance (TDO) and best practice transparency.

 

2.1 Product Quality and Warranty

J's Living House Policy: Client Responsibility

Product Defects perform a visual quality check upon arrival at our HK consolidation point and before installation. If a major, obvious defect is found, we will intervene with the Taobao vendor on the Client's behalf.The Client must rely on the warranty and return policy provided by the original Taobao Vendor for the furniture product itself.

Product Misdescription are responsible for ensuring the product delivered matches the description and specifications (e.g., size, color, material) approved by the Client during the advisory phase.The Client must confirm the product link and specifications before purchase.

Post-Installation Issues guarantee the quality of the installation service for a period of [30 days]. Issues arising from poor assembly (e.g., loose bolts) will be rectified free of charge. Damage or wear-and-tear to the furniture or property after successful installation, or issues related to the product's long-term quality (e.g., wood warping, peeling paint), are the responsibility of the Taobao Vendor.

2.2 Logistics and Damage Liability
  1. Damage in Transit (Mainland to HK Depot): We utilize vetted freight partners. In the event of confirmed transit damage, J's Living House will manage the insurance claim process with the logistics provider on the Client's behalf. Liability is capped at the maximum insured value or the cost of the damaged item, whichever is lower.

  2. Installation Damage: Our third-party installers are vetted and insured. Damage caused by the installation team to the Client’s home (e.g., walls, floors) will be covered by the installer’s liability insurance, which J's Living House will coordinate.

 

3. Payment, Cancellation, and Refund Policy

This outlines the terms surrounding the handling fee charged by J's Living House.

 
3.1 Handling Fee and Third-Party Costs
  1. Handling Fee: This fee is typically charged upfront and is calculated as a percentage of the total furniture cost or a fixed service package rate, as outlined in the client's formal Quotation. This fee is non-refundable once advisory and sourcing work has commenced.

  2. Third-Party Costs: The Client is directly responsible for all third-party costs, including:

    • The original cost of the furniture (paid to Taobao).

    • Freight and Shipping charges (paid to the logistics provider).

    • Installation charges (paid to the installer).

    • We guarantee full transparency on these third-party costs.

 

3.2 Cancellation and Refunds

Phase 1:

Advisory & Vetting (Before Purchase) Cancellation is permitted.50% Refund. This retains compensation for expert time spent on sourcing, planning, and vetting.​

Phase 2:

Purchase & Logistics Coordination (After Taobao Order) Cancellation is permitted, but the Client is responsible for any unrecoverable costs (e.g., Taobao seller's non-refundable deposit, shipping fees already paid).0% Refund. Our service has commenced, and the work of coordinating the purchase and logistics chain is underway.

Phase 3:

Delivery & Installation (Item in HK) Cancellation of installation is permitted. Partial Refund of the pre-paid installation coordination component only.

4. Privacy Policy (Adhering to HK PDPO)

J's Living House is committed to protecting the privacy of our clients' personal data in compliance with the Hong Kong Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (PDPO).

 

4.1 Data Collection and Use (DPP1 & DPP3)
  • What we collect: We collect personal data necessary to provide our service, including: Client Name, Contact Information (Phone/Email), Billing Address, and crucially, Floor Plans or Apartment Measurements for sizing advice.

  • Purpose of Collection: Data is used solely for processing the service agreement, providing furniture advice (especially for sizing/fit), coordinating logistics (sharing address/contact with vetted carriers), and billing.

  • Direct Marketing: We will only use your email for direct marketing (e.g., new service updates) if you have provided explicit, opt-in consent.

 

4.2 Data Security and Retention (DPP2 & DPP4)
  • Security: We take all practical steps to ensure the personal data we hold is protected against unauthorized or accidental access, processing, erasure, loss, or use.

  • Retention: We will not retain your personal data for longer than is necessary to fulfill the purpose for which it was collected (i.e., after the final installation warranty period expires, unless required for statutory accounting purposes). Floor plans will be destroyed or anonymized after project completion.

 

4.3 Data Access and Correction (DPP6)

You have the right to request access to, and correction of your personal data held by J's Living House. All requests must be made in writing via email to our designated Data Protection Officer: info@jslivinghouse.com
